Every Detail Counts: A Deep Dive into Our Dreamy Master Bedroom Retreat
Our primary/ master bedroom is more than just a place to sleep after a long day, it’s a retreat to relax, reset and recharge. Curating a space where every detail has been carefully selected to not only represent who we are but represent where we want to go.

1. The Color Palette: Setting the Mood
The color palette sets the tone for the entire room. We chose colors to make the room feel calm and inviting, perfect for winding down at the end of the day. If you’re wondering how to choose the right color palettes, I have a tip for you!

2. Maximizing Daylight and Clever Storage
Sunlight is a game-changer in any home. After our initial walkthrough of the house, I immediately realized that incorporating more windows would not only flood our home with natural light but also completely transform its overall ambiance.
This totally made our builder-grade space feel like a custom-made dream. Now, every morning, we’re greeted by the sun’s rays, and it fills me with an incredible sense of joy. I have no regrets!
As we were planning our room, we thought about where to put our stuff and came up with clever ways to make the space work well. We utilized decorative boxes, dressers, nightstands, and various other storage solutions to ensure everything has its proper place.
This not only contributes to a sense of serenity but also keeps the room looking tidy and well-organized.
3. The Peaceful Retreat: Comfort is Key
Our room feels peaceful because of a few essential things: comfortable bedding, soft textures, cozy lighting, and a ceiling fan. We have ordered curtains, and once those arrive, they’ll provide privacy when needed, and allow all the daylight in too!
At night, lamps help set the mood, we have two by our bed and one over our reading nook. When you enter our room, our bed is the front and center. The warm bed frame, comfy headboard, and layers of bedding all contribute to the cozy atmosphere I sought out for. The ceiling fan is a significant part of our sleep comfort. Both Korey and I appreciate air flow, so having a fan was a must for us. I chose one that blends into the ceiling but was still stylish too.

4. The Cozy Reading Nook: A Corner for Relaxation
We made a cozy corner for reading. A comfy chair sits by the window, a space where we can read all the books and relish in peaceful moments. There’s also a table for our coffee or books, and a lamp for reading at any time.
5. Personalized Decor: A Personal Touch
We hung a gallery wall full of family photos, some art work and a quote above the bed that means a lot to us . These decorations make the room feel special and remind us of good times.
6. Thoughtful Accommodations: Sharing the Space
Since we both use the bedroom, we made sure to consider each other’s needs. Having a nightstand on each side of our bed stores different items, but they both work equally well. The bedside lamps are another way we make our sides of the bed practical. If I want to read while Korey is watching a show, having the lamps gives me that option.
I highly recommend thinking about how both of you will use the space and designing it with that in mind.
7. Thuma Must-Haves: Elevating the Room
Before we started working on our bedroom, we knew we wanted to include some basic furniture pieces that we hadn’t had before. Our past dressers were great Facebook finds, but we had long dreamt of having our very own bedroom set. While exploring different options, Thuma immediately caught our attention. Their designs are exceptionally sleek, assembly is a breeze, and the use of solid wood was a big plus! 8. The Final Touches: Personal Details
So many items in our room not only reflect our style, and personalities, but it also reflects who we are as a couple, and where we hope to be going. The photos and art remind us of memories together, and the quote above our bed is a great reminder to choose each other everyday. I’m so thankful and grateful that after a full year of not having a space to call our own we finally have one that not only is ours, but it’s truly a haven for us to find rest.
